AN INSIGHT INTO ALISHA'S LIFE 

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Fun, Energetic, Friendly, Outgoing, and Aesthetic. 

What genres do you like the most when it comes to acting?

Definitely Comedy, I love to laugh and love making people laugh.

When did you start your career in acting? What was the turning point of your life?

I started my career in 2014 officially when I moved to Mumbai. I had done a few projects in Australia earlier. I was a part of the Hollywood film Son of a Gun and a few commercials. I moved to Mumbai when I was on a vacation for 3 days and auditioned for Student of the Year. I was so excited because I was shortlisted but I did not live in India and had to fly back to Australia so I couldn't proceed. I knew that living in Mumbai was the next step for my career so I moved back to Perth, sorted out my affairs, deferred from college, and shifted to Mumbai 3 months later.

My very first project was called Hotel Beautifool. I was 21 years old and so nervous when I auditioned as I had just moved to Mumbai. I was called a few days later to audition again as the director was on the fence about casting me. I was new in the industry, I had no prior experience of acting in a lead role with so many dialogues in a film. However, the director felt I had much potential and I was signed a week later.

It was half shot at Future Studios, Goregoan in Mumbai, and another half in Goa! It was so much fun and I got to learn a lot while working alongside Bollywood Comedy Legends such as Johnny Lever Ji, and Brijendra Kala Ji.

If given a chance to pick, which director and actor would you want to work with?

I would want to work with Anurag Kashyap as a director and actor would be SRK, as he is a legend.

If not an actor, who would you rather be?

Businesswoman, of course.

Who inspires you the most?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, she is the epitome of grace and beauty.

How have you changed since you first started in the industry?

Being in the industry has definitely made me more mature, it taught me how difficult it can be to find work and what a blessing it is to be working in the industry you feel so passionate about. It taught me that there are hundreds of people that contribute to the success of a film, from the director, to the music producer, to the editor, to even the spot boy. After the completion of shooting when you see yourself on screen, and the fruit of labour reaps, acting, as a profession, seems wonderful.

Who has been your biggest support throughout?

My parents, they encouraged me for modelling and acting and I would not be here today without their love and support.

How has lockdown been for you? How did you cope up?

It has been quiet but I have lived away from my family for many years so it gave me a chance to reconnect and spend more time with them. Work was minimal but I worked on a business plan for Farrer Beauty, did some online courses, got certified, and got my Diploma in Makeup.

What are your plans now?

I had spent 6 years living in India and working non-stop. When Covid hit, I moved to Perth and fully engrossed myself in my makeup business. I started Farrer Beauty Makeup Artistry in 2013 and sporadically worked on the business from time to time, but in 2020 I fully took on the marketing, built my studio and promoted my brand.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Farrer Beauty will become a franchise, I would have created my makeup line, and hopefully married with children!
