Cold temperatures can wreak havoc on your skin on your face and body. The winters are a time when your skin gets dry,
flaky, and irritable. So how can you keep the largest organ of your body hydrated and healthy during the cold
season?
We bring to you some easy winter skin care tips:
It is natural that you want a hot shower as the temperature falls, but if you don’t moisture after a hot shower it
can leave your skin extra dry. Hot water has the ability to evaporate fast. This leaves cracks in the skin and
leaves it prone to eczema or winter’s itch. Make sure to lather on that cream well after a bath. Try to use products
that contain hyaluronic acid and ceramides to keep the barrier of your skin from losing moisture.
People often make the mistake of going out just after they’ve washed their hands to do a chore. But if your skin is
damp and you go out in the cold it tends to chap easily. Make sure to towel dry and moisturize before you set foot
out.
Your skin tends to be drier in the cold season. So give it a break from exfoliating. If you did it 2-3 times a week,
maybe cut down to once a week during the winters. If your skin still remains dry and flaky, consider taking a break
from exfoliating till it gets healthier.
Water retention is the trick to healthier skin. Get a facial mist to keep your skin hydrated at any time of the day.
It leaves you feeling fresh and revitalised, along with giving your skin the moisture it needs. Keep the mist away
from your eyes and choose products that do not contain alcohol as they end up drying your skin further, which goes
against your goal.
If you thought sunscreen is only for sunny days at the beach, think again! UVA rays that cause dark spots, wrinkles,
and skin damage are present during all seasons. Make sure to put on that creamy SPF loaded sunscreen even if you are
driving or working near a window, because the glass cannot keep those harsh rays out.
Apart from the tips we’ve mentioned above, it is very important that you get enough sleep and maintain a regular
exercise schedule for good skin in the winters. Exercise adds a youthful glow to your face and helps flush out the
toxins from your body. It does get difficult to get out of bed when it's cold, but remember how good it is for your
skin and give yourselves that push!
Another easy but crucial thing to do is to drink enough water. That’s hydration from within. You can also include
foods with high water content in your diet, such as kiwi, tomatoes, and carrots. Get a good dose of vitamin C and
zinc as well to keep the production of collagen and elastin going in your skin.
There you have it, we hope you follow these tips to get healthy skin all winter long!
